Stumbled upon this place after watching a show about authentic tacos one night. I happened to drive by on my way to another taco place and decided to stop!
I am so glad I did. I got 3 tacos, asada, al pastor, and one mix. each was delicious and very reasonably priced.
This is exactly the type of authentic Mexican tacos this area needed!! This part of town didn't have many options and I am this place is perfect for it.
Will definitely go back! -

I'm a Clifton resident and I was excited to try La Bonita because it's very close to where I live and who doesn't love good Mexican food? Given the reviews, I expected it to be amazing. Uh, no. Far from it. I really don't understand these reviews. It's as if we didn't go to the same restaurant. The restaurant I went to served up salsa that tasted like pureed canned tomatoes with chips that were soggy from oil and had oil pooled up in the bottom of the basket. The restaurant I went to served cheese dip that was literally the consistency of milk and just soaked into the soggy oil chip. The restaurant I went to served shrimp fajitas with shrimp that I immediately spit out because the texture was way off and it tasted like a fish stick. I read all these amazing reviews and I'm just so disappointed that my experience was so vastly different from others. I've had people say to give them another chance, but there are so many fabulous restaurants in Louisville that are consistently good - I'm going to have to pass. I was super disappointed, La Bonita.

La Bonita is a newly opened taqueria/Mexican restaurant in Brownsboro Plaza in the Clifton neighborhood on lower Brownsboro Road.
For a taqueria, the menu is extensive, including tacos, burritos, tortas, tlayudas, gorditas and sopes. There is also a breakfast menu, a dinner menu, a seafood menu, and a weekend menu with caldo 7 mares, menudo, caldo de camaron and pozole. There are seven choices of meats, ranging from carne asada to tripe.
For my first visit, I ordered a pastor burrito ($8.99) from the friendly man at the counter.
My burrito arrived pretty quickly. It was big, served on a platter, and covered with a sauce I couldn't identify. It was tasty and filling. The presentation was more northern than Mexican (lettuce inside and sour cream on top), but I enjoyed it.
On the plus side, the server brought two house made salsas (a red one and a green one) that were both pretty good.
I am glad La Bonita is here, and I hope they succeed. -

Stopped in at lunch time and ordered steak nachos to-go. Service was good - the toughest part was deciding what to eat! They have a large menu; tacos, gorditas, sopes, nachos, enchiladas, chilaquiles, and more authentic Mexican flavors. The restaurant shares a space with a Hispanic grocer, and I suggest browsing the aisles while you wait. My order was ready in less than 10 minutes, and came with several sauces. The portion was HUGE, but delicious. I'm looking forward to trying the rest of the menu!
